Further Notes on Retail

Please take a look at this post I just completed for my other, more professional, blog.  It relates to an upcoming article I'm writing about our wonderful new transit stop planned for Laveen (hint: I'm being slightly sarcastic).

And by professional, I do not mean to imply that my posting frequency is anything of which to be proud.

Patrick, YOU need to run for local office! :) I have a feeling you could get things done for Laveen.

LOL, thank you -- I'm flattered. And I'd certainly like to run for office someday. I already have two failed attempts at running for student government at the UA, so maybe next time will be different. But then there's also much more at stake in representing the public and I've always pictured myself as quite a bit older and more mature when I do so. You read my last post, "On Civility," right? ;-)

For that matter, I wish everyone would run for office. I have had many friends and family who served in one way or another over the years, and they've all generally enjoyed the whole process. But I do have concerns about what it takes to get there in our current elections environment (low turnout, expensive elections, and so on). If you're an excellent fundraiser or have a pile of cash to burn, then I'd say have at it. I'm something of a hard-headed idealist, though, and have a tough time committing to a process that I don't particularly like or endorse (see comment above about maturity).

Speaking of which..... I've got a few opinions regarding our current candidates. Should I post them?

I hear you! We have a friend who is a state senator in Washington. My husband helped him run campaigns back in his early days....tough stuff.
I think you should post your thoughts on current candidates. Your viewpoint seems to be appreciated by many!
Happy Weekend,
